I needed some cheering up, for obvious reasons, so we set about decorating for Christmas.
These two little elves, a friend’s kids we were wrangling for the night, were thrilled when Hubby brought up the tree. I pulled out the decorations and off they went. They did an awesome job.
There’s Darth posing in front of the finished tree. I found him lying under it about half an hour later.
I love this bit of winter whimsy. Even more because it looks like it’s going to be a very green and balmy (14 C forecast for Dec. 24) Christmas. Anyway, it’s cute and it jingles when you open and close the door.
Here’s Sarah Jane in the library. Cheeky thing she is, baby of the family and she knows it. People stockings beside the fireplace, kitty stockings on the mantle.
Yes, my cats have their own stockings…there, I said it. 😀

Is it really the middle of September?
This year has been an interesting one so far. Very much a three steps forward, two steps back dance with accomplishing goals. One week I would be going like gang busters, starting AND finishing little projects without even blinking.
The next thing I know another two weeks have gone by and I haven’t done a thing.
I feel ya kitty, I really do.

The first month of 2015 was awesome.
January saw some positive changes in routine, consistent adherence to a schedule and a record amount of sorting, organizing and purging.
A great way to start a year.
The last week though has seen a pause in the momentum. It’s been very cold and/or snowing for days on end. Looking outside through a sheer curtain of falling white flakes tends to slow life down.
So, for now, life is mostly being lived under a blanket in front of the television watching Netflix and knitting. Not very exciting I know but if life has taught me anything it’s that excitement is highly overrated.
I think we’ll have a fire later.

I am very excited about this new year.
Just as I love an untouched piece of paper, how I revel in clean sheets and prefer to cook in a tidy kitchen, a new year is a thing to be appreciated. A chance to marker opportunities for feeling positive, being productive and creating possibilities. Aw, how poetic. 😀
Anyway, as with the other areas of my life, I’m going to approach blogging a little differently this year. I’m aiming for less angst filled journal and more charming scrapbook, less WWJD and more KISS.
Snipits, bylines, cool links, photo with a caption, a recipe, the occasional rant or maybe even (if I get up the incentive to learn how to) an embedded video. Who knows how it will turn out but I’m looking forward to a fresh start.
Happy New Year!

It’s only December what now??????
Actually, I’m still waiting on a few packages to be delivered and I have a bit of running around to do. But really, other than some baking I’m all but ready for Christmas. Who’d have thunk it, especially because I started out this holiday season very humbug. I’m feeling better about it now. 😀
It’s been snowing ALL DAY so there’s little worry that we won’t have a white Christmas which is always a relief. Not that I’m a fan of the snow and cold, I’m not. It’s just that, around these parts, without snow it just isn’t the same.
Besides, if it’s warm enough to snow it’s not so cold that this is happening…

I recently ended my procrastination about Spring cleaning and finally cleaned out the mudroom. A long awaited chore that bounced from list to list until I eventually forgot to write it down.
I just woke up yesterday morning and decided I was going to do it.
Weird how much that accomplishes, just doing something. Instead of planning, debating, discussing, and writing endless lists about…the only thing that actually changed anything was just getting in there and doing it. I know, it’s not Plato, but it’s still a pretty good metaphor.
